Who We Are
InfoClin is committed to helping physicians use technology to improve the quality of patient care. Our EMR selection and implementation services and our innovative software products are designed to make life easier for physicians who practice in small clinics and who don't have a large information technology infrastructure.
InfoClin began working with McMaster University (Canada) and a group of practicing physicians to develop a set of tools that would improve the success of incorporating information technology into medical offices. Now in its 7th iteration with a success rate of over 80% and built around clinically tested best practices, InfoClin is the market leader in understanding the risks associated with implementing information technology in small medical practices (1-6 physicians) –the most common type of clinic in North America.
InfoClin has the exclusive, world-wide license from McMaster University to market this methodology. Turn to InfoClin when the success of your EMR product depends on physicians actually using and embracing technology in a healthcare environment.

Computerization Of Medical Practices for the Enhancement of Therapeutic Effectiveness (COMPETE) was a study conducted in the Hamilton, Canada area from 1998-2001. COMPETE involved a network of 18 primary care practices (33 physicians) in the Hamilton-Wentworth area. It was coordinated from the Centre for Evaluation of Medicines (CEM), an evidence-based therapeutics research and education centre in St. Joseph's Hospital and McMaster University. Each family practice in the network used the same EMR software and was connected electronically to the research centre. Participating physicians shared in the cost of a full EMR, with a client-server local area network and PCs in each exam room.
Highlights of the study include:
- Over 80% of physicians learned to use the system in real-time during the patient encounter.
- Over 150,000 patient encounters were documented.
- Data quality achieved: over 90% of diagnoses were coded in ICD9CM and over 95% of medications were coded.
- Learnings were carefully documented on what worked and what didn’t during implementation.
